In this new series, Life Well Lived, Pastor Philip De Courcy takes us through the most powerful sermon ever preached by the greatest preacher who ever lived. Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount isn’t a list of religious slogans or moral suggestions. It’s the Magna Carta of God’s Kingdom.
Jesus shows us what life looks like when God is King, and grace has taken root in our lives. This series calls us to live a life that’s radically different from the world around us. We are to be countercultural, Christ-centered, and Kingdom-focused. This series will show us why it’s not about how to get saved, but about how saved people live. This is the fruit of salvation and a picture of what it means to walk in obedience, dependence, and devotion to our Savior.
The standards are high, impossibly high in our own strength, but Jesus shows us the way. Jesus doesn’t just deal with our behaviors; He goes after our hearts. He says it’s not enough to avoid murder; we must deal with our anger. It’s not enough to stay out of someone’s bed; we must deal with our lust. After all, Jesus wants our lives to be transformed.
This series will humble us. It will expose us. It will drive us to grace. We can’t live this life fully unless we allow the Life-Giver to live inside us.
Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll sit at the feet of Jesus and go line by line through the Sermon on the Mount to let God’s Word work in our hearts and minds. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. Because a life well lived is a life that ends with a “well done” from the Father.
